ICE Responds After Employee Arrested in St. Tammany Parish
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is now responding after one of its employees was arrested in St. Tammany Parish.
Thomas Bailey, 58, an employee of the ICE office in Oakdale, was arrested Friday after authorities say he entered his ex-girlfriend’s Covington-area apartment without her permission. She was not home at the time.
Now, ICE says it is taking the allegations seriously.
In a statement released following Bailey’s arrest, the agency stressed that its employees are expected to maintain high standards of integrity and ethical behavior and said allegations of misconduct are investigated by the appropriate agencies.
ICE also said any employee found to have committed misconduct will be held accountable and that the agency cooperates with outside law enforcement when allegations of criminal conduct arise.
The agency declined to discuss Bailey’s case specifically, citing the sensitive nature of the charge and pending litigation.
Bailey is charged with one count of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
If convicted under Louisiana law, the charge carries a potential sentence of up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000.
The case remains pending, and Bailey is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
