Investigators Say No Evidence of Foul Play Found in Death of Nolan Xavier Wells
Mississippi investigators say they have found no evidence of a crime or foul play in the death of 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells, who went missing during a Fourth of July trip to Horn Island.
According to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter, everything investigators have gathered so far points away from criminal activity. While officials currently suspect drowning, the official cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, as the full autopsy and toxicology results are still pending.
Authorities stressed that the investigation is not closed. Detectives continue to review evidence and are asking anyone who was on Horn Island on July 4, or anyone with photos, videos, or firsthand information from that day, to come forward.
Nolan’s family has also retained attorney Ben Crump, who has announced an independent review while the official investigation continues.
As this case has drawn widespread attention online, investigators are urging the public to allow the facts to guide the conversation rather than speculation. At this time, officials say there is no evidence of foul play, but they will continue following the evidence wherever it leads.
