St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith turned himself in Thursday at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail after an investigation conducted by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Smith’s total bond was set at $10,000.
Smith is facing the following charges:
• Second Degree Battery (Felony)
• Disturbing the Peace by Engaging in a Fistic Encounter (Misdemeanor)
• Disturbing the Peace While Appearing in an Intoxicated Condition (Misdemeanor)
The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred at a Madisonville restaurant on May 29.
The investigation remains ongoing. As with all criminal cases, Smith is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
