St. Tammany Fire District #12 Mourns Loss Of Captain Ricky Payne

St. Tammany Fire Protection District #12 is mourning the death of Captain Ricky Payne, a nearly 25 year veteran of the department.

The department announced Payne’s death Saturday, describing the loss as an incredibly difficult moment for his fellow firefighters, family and loved ones.

Payne spent nearly a quarter century serving with Fire District #12.

The department described the fire service as more than a job, calling it a family built on trust, sacrifice, courage and standing together through difficult moments.

Fire District #12 asked the community to keep Payne’s family, loved ones, fellow firefighters and their families in their thoughts and prayers.

Community members have also begun sharing condolences and messages honoring Payne and his years of service.
