Slidell Woman Killed In Head-On Crash On Highway 434 In Lacombe

A 74-year-old Slidell woman has died following a head-on crash Monday afternoon in Lacombe, according to Louisiana State Police.

State Police identified the victim as Milda N. Capponi, who was riding in the front passenger seat of a 2012 Honda CR-V traveling north on Highway 434 near Krentel Road.

Investigators say the Honda attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot and entered the path of a southbound 2015 Toyota Tundra. The Toyota struck the passenger side of the Honda.

The Honda’s driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Capponi, who Louisiana State Police said was not wearing a seat belt, sustained critical injuries and later died at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

Louisiana State Police continue to investigate what led to the crash.
