Highway 90 Bridge Funding Application Moves Forward

Efforts to secure federal funding for the Highway 90 bridge project are continuing as Louisiana officials work to finalize an application through the Bridge Infrastructure Grant Program.

According to State Representative Stephanie Berault, the next grant cycle is now open, with applications due by June 29, 2026. Award announcements are expected on November 1, 2026.

The project involves replacing the four western bridges and repairing the eastern bridge along the Highway 90 corridor. Discussions are ongoing between Louisiana DOTD, regional legislators, Congressman Steve Scalise, and the U.S. Department of Transportation as officials continue searching for funding solutions.

Leaders involved in the discussions say the need for the project becomes even more urgent as hurricane season approaches, citing concerns about public safety, evacuation routes, regional connectivity, and economic stability.

Organizations and officials mentioned in the update include St. Tammany Parish, the City of Slidell, Concerned Citizens of St. Tammany, the East St. Tammany Business Alliance, and the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce.
