Slidell Man Found Guilty in Case Involving Minor, Sentencing Set for May

A Slidell man has been convicted by a local jury on serious charges involving a child, following an investigation that spanned several years and detailed repeated incidents.
According to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office, 41-year-old Deontrel Jermaine Jackson was found guilty as charged after evidence presented in court showed a pattern of ongoing abuse involving a victim under the age of 13.
Authorities said the case originated from an investigation led by the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, which began in early 2021. Detectives determined that the incidents occurred over a period of time inside a residence in Slidell.
The case came to light after concerns were raised through personal writings discovered by others, which ultimately led to forensic interviews. During those interviews, investigators say the victim described repeated inappropriate contact.
Prosecutors told the jury that the defendant had previously acknowledged the behavior, and emphasized that the case centered on protecting children and holding offenders accountable.
Following the verdict, officials stated the outcome represents a step toward justice for the victim and reflects the seriousness of crimes involving minors.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 5, 2026. Under Louisiana law, the conviction carries a potential penalty ranging from 25 to 99 years in prison, without eligibility for parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
