Slidell Man Killed in Late Night Livingston Parish Crash
A Slidell man lost his life Friday night after a single vehicle crash in Livingston Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. on July 31 along Louisiana Highway 16 near Ben Fugler Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, 39 year old David Davies of Slidell was driving a 2020 Toyota Tundra south on LA 16 when, for reasons still under investigation, the truck left the roadway on the right side and struck a tree.
Authorities said Davies was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not determined whether impairment played a role in the crash. As is standard procedure in fatal crashes, a toxicology sample will be collected and submitted for analysis.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Louisiana State Police continue to remind motorists that wearing a seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce the risk of serious injury or death in a crash. Drivers are also urged to avoid impairment, distractions, and fatigue whenever they get behind the wheel.
