Trial Date Set In Deadly Slidell Hit-And-Run Case Involving 6-Year-Old

A trial date has now been set for a Slidell woman accused in the hit-and-run death of a 6 year old boy.

According to reports, 40 year old Connie Estes is scheduled to go to trial on September 14, with a pre-trial motions hearing set for June 20.

Estes is charged with felony hit-and-run involving death and obstruction of justice in connection with the August 13 incident that took the life of 6 year old Jeremiah Ramirez.

Investigators say the child was struck while riding his scooter in the driveway of his Slidell-area home. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The case has drawn significant attention after authorities initially arrested another man, who was later cleared when new evidence pointed to Estes.

Estes was indicted by a grand jury and remains in custody at the St. Tammany Parish jail as the case moves forward.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
