SLIDELL, La. — One of Slidell’s most meaningful annual traditions returns this weekend as the 21st Annual Crawfish Cook Off takes place Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fritchie Park.

The event offers all-you-can-eat crawfish, live entertainment, and a full day of community fun, all while supporting a mission that reaches families during some of life’s hardest moments.

Advance tickets are listed at $40, with gate admission set at $45. Children ages 12 and under get in free. Live music will feature Soul Revival and Voodoo Gumbo.

Organizers say approximately 40,000 pounds of crawfish will be available for guests to enjoy. Once it is gone, it is gone, and all crawfish must be consumed on site.

For those attending, shuttle buses will run from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. from several locations including First Baptist Church, Our Lady of Lourdes School, Celebration Church, and Salmen High School.

Guests are reminded that wagons, trays, buckets, outside food or drinks, coolers, tables, tents, and pets are not allowed inside the event.

While many know the Cook Off as one of the most anticipated gatherings of the year, its deeper purpose is what makes it special.

Funds raised help support The Hospice House, a nonprofit home in Slidell that provides terminally ill hospice patients a place to stay during their final days at no cost to families. The home is staffed around the clock with caregivers and offers a peaceful setting where loved ones can spend meaningful time together.

The facility includes three private bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and screened porch, along with shared family spaces such as a living room, kitchen, and dining area.

The Hospice House remains the only home of its kind in the local community, making the Crawfish Cook Off more than just a festival. It is a fundraiser that directly helps neighbors when they need compassion most.
